    About this tea:

ManSong Imperial Tribute Black Tea is hand-harvested from young, wild tea trees growing naturally at high elevation in the pristine, ancient ManSong tea gardens of Yunnan — a legendary region that has supplied tribute tea to Chinese emperors for over 400 years. Free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and industrial pollution, these mountain-wild leaves flourish in rich biodiversity and clean mist, delivering an exceptionally pure and vibrant cup.

Crafted in small batches using traditional Yunnan sun-drying and light-oxidation techniques, ManSong Black Tea (Hong Cha) offers a smooth, full-bodied flavor with natural honey-sweet notes, bright malt, and subtle wildflower aroma — never bitter or astringent.

Unlike coffee’s sharp jolt, ManSong delivers steady, focused energy through a balanced blend of L-theanine and moderate caffeine. It sharpens concentration and mental clarity while simultaneously calming the nervous system, melting away stress and mild anxiety. Rich in polyphenols and catechins, it provides powerful antioxidant protection, supports emotional well-being, and combats oxidative stress more gently and sustainably than coffee ever could.

Whether you’re starting the day with calm alertness or unwinding in the afternoon without jitters, one cup of ManSong proves that true energy doesn’t need to come with a crash. Pure mountain heritage in every sip.

    About the Origin:

ManSong, a village in the southern part of Yunnan Province, belonging to the renowned Yibang Mountain tea production region. The mountain sits at an elevation of approximately 950 meters above sea level.

The soil in the ManSong Valley is markedly different from that of other tea-producing areas. The soil on the tea mountain is reddish-brown, has a high pH value, and is exceptionally rich in minerals.

Tea production in the ManSong Valley began during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). During the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912), it became an imperial reserved tea area. Only government officials were allowed to enter the restricted zone to harvest tea leaves, which were then offered as tribute to the imperial court.

Historical records tell that toward the end of the Ming Dynasty, after the Qing forces overthrew the Ming, a Ming prince fled to the ManSong area in Yunnan. After the prince’s death, he was buried on a mountain that was subsequently named “Prince Mountain” (Wangzi Shan). It is on Prince Mountain and the adjacent Back-Yin Mountain that the hidden ancient ManSong tea trees are found.

For Pu-erh tea enthusiasts, ManSong tea has always remained something of a legend. Very few people have ever visited the mountain or had the chance to taste authentic ManSong tea from its true origin.

Many believe that most of the ancient tea trees in ManSong were destroyed by fire and war, and rumors persist that only a handful remain. However, a few local villagers have discovered hidden ancient trees deep inside the mountain forests.

These ancient trees grow in remote, unexplored forest areas that are extremely difficult to reach. On a good day, a farmer can harvest less than 2 lbs (about 900 g) of fresh leaves — and it typically takes around 4 kg of fresh leaves to produce just 1 kg of maocha (sun-dried loose tea).

There is a famous saying among Pu-erh lovers: “You can buy Lao Ban Zhang tea if you have money, but even with money, genuine ancient-tree ManSong tea is almost impossible to find.” For this reason, trying real ManSong tea remains a dream for many Pu-erh drinkers.

Fortunately, Mr. Hu (the founder of TanLong Tea) had the rare opportunity to follow the Luo brothers — Yi ethnicity locals born and raised in ManSong — deep into the ancient tea forest. According to Mr. Hu, the journey required riding a motorcycle for about 40 minutes followed by more than an hour of trekking on foot!
